Mentoring Plus: changing the lives of vulnerable children and young people in Bath and NE Somerset
Mentoring Plus trains and supports adult volunteer mentors, matching them one to one with each young person. They work together through problems, build confidence and try new things.
With the help of their mentors, children and young people are able to cope better with school, family or behaviour, to connect with their community and choose a positive future. See what mentors mean to our young people here.
Could you help our work? We need volunteer mentors, with new training sessions every term. We also need vital funding to train and support our mentors, and to provide skills-building activities for children and young people.
We accept referrals (including self-referrals) throughout the year for children and young people who would benefit from mentoring: please see full criteria and referral forms.
Due to continued heavy demand, places for young people in our summer cohort are now full. New referrals will now be looking ahead to autumn 2014 for mentor matching. We are always happy to talk about priority cases and alternative services - please give us a call.
Great news: our 2014 Bath Half runners raised £9,000 for Mentoring Plus. The funds will be spent directly on training and supporting our volunteer mentors. Thanks everyone who ran or donated!
Our young people have been busy. Skills-building activities this term have included sports taster sessions courtesy of TeamBath, music recording with Kelvin Swaby and Daniel Hibbert, and farm activities at Jamie's Farm.
Please visit our support us page for more information on how you can help the young people of B&NES. Thank you.
